Film That is Over 50 Years Old (Breakfast at Tiffany's)

The film I picked was a film created in 1961 called Breakfast at Tiffany's. This film, being 53 years old, filmed very differently then we do today. For one thing the quality is significantly better today. Throughout the movie they uses many different camera views. In the scene where Holly and Paul are walking through the city streets and the camera is far away and as they walk closer and closer to the camera it starts to focus in on their faces. Although this is a very regularly used shot in movies and in shows, I think it is an interesting angle and it tells the views a little more about where the characters stand in the world. When the camera is far away they fit in the crowd of people and they look like everyone else, but you don't realize who they really are until they keep walking towards you and you can make them out. what I did realize was that they did not have the camera looking like it was from an angle of a dolly. I just recently watched this film and found it very good and since it is so old it was fun to look at how differently they filmed back then and all the different camera angles.

November 7 News Cast Review

For our news cast on Thursday, I think it was our worst one so far. We decided last week to change up our jobs, so no one did great with the new ones. The cameras didn't go very well. They were moved from one shot to another while the screen was on that camera. When we went from the weather back to the table, Matt was still on the screen while Kenzie started talking, it was an over lap on the screens. I accidently said .com instead of .org while talking about Ms. Limmer's email. I tried to look up while talking sometimes but I could have done it more. Also, we said the title of each announcement when we shouldn't have. Usually the first sentence of each announcement restated the title so it sounded a little weird. another thing about me was that my elbows were in Kenzie's shot sometimes. I thought the report on the play High School Musical was really good. Over all it was not a good news cast, hopefully we will do a better job next week.

Review on Movie From the Internet Movie Database Top 250 (Forrest Gump)

The movie I picked from the list of 250 movies from the internet Movie Database was Forrest Gump. I recently watched this movie for the first time after everyone said it was a great and classic movie. The thing that first comes to my mind from the movie that relates to what we talked about in class, is the use of a dolly. During this movies there were a couple scenes where the camera follows Forrest while he was running and I thought about the work that was put into it with a dolly. Since my job for the news casts are to work the camera, I made sure I looked for when they had camera zooms. one scene I remember is when he is playing ping pong with himself against the wall, and the camera starts just showing him and the wall, then it starts to slowly move out to show everyone sitting there watching him. In my opinion I thought his movie had a lot of good camera movements, from the dolly work to the zoom ins and zoom outs.

Second News Cast

For our second news cast I thought we made some improvements from our first one. I could have still done a better job on zooming up on Laura because its still shaky. I think if I started to zoom up on her slowly as see doing the introduction, then when she starts her first story, ill already be zoomed up on her. The anchors should really look over the stories before we start, so they can ask about pronunciations and  other questions. Also I'm not sure if it was my computer or not but during Laura's first story the sound cuts out a little. the change from each anchor and from the weather to the table, I think was done well. Other then the few little problems, I think we did a better job this time then the first.

First News Cast

For our first news cast, I thought it went well. We could have done a lot better with the scripts and reciting them better. I think that Luke did well with looking up to the camera often so it looked like he was engaged. For being camera two and focusing on Laura, I should have zoomed up on her closer so Luke's elbow wasn't in the shot. I also had to do camera one, which was different from what I usually due. It was hard to transition from both cameras when they were back to back, but it was manageable. When I first start to record Laura and I zoom up on her, it could have been better. It was to shaky. I think the anchors  should have known their lines better, so they weren't so choppy. Another thing I thought looked good was the transition from each camera, done in the back room. It made it look really professional. Other then a few flaws I think it was a good first news cast.
